On the occasion of Armed forces Flag Day, District Revenue Officer Dr.P. Menaka announced that the collection of bills has been started by funding the Flag Day Bill

Last year in Salem district the flag day fund was Rs. 1,96,18,000/- Collected.

On behalf of Ex-Servicemen's Welfare Department at Salem District Collector's Office, District Revenue Officer Maneka initiated the collection of bills by funding the flag day at the Veterans' Flag Day function held on (07.12.2022). On this occasion, the District Revenue Officer said:
Since 1947, Tri-Army Flag Day has been observed annually on 7th December to commemorate the great service rendered by the soldiers of the tri-services. Funds raised for Flag Day are used for war, combat life saving, rehabilitation and rehabilitation of war disabled, welfare schemes for servicemen and their families, and rehabilitation of families of ex-servicemen and their dependents.

 
In this way, while the flag collection target for Salem district last year was fixed at Rs.1,99,03,000/-, due to the diligent efforts of the district administration, 99 percent of the target was collected and a total of Rs.1,96,18,000/- was collected.
In particular, while the target for Salem Corporation was fixed at Rs.13,47,000/-, Rs.13,92,000/- has been collected beyond the target.

The target of collection of Flag Day fund for Salem district this year has been fixed at Rs.2,10,24,000/-. Like last year, every one is requested to contribute more to the Flag Day collection for the benefit of ex-service men's families. District Revenue Officer Menaka said this.
Following this, District Revenue Officer Maneka provided welfare assistance worth Rs. 1.72 lakh to 11 ex-servicemen on behalf of ex-servicemen's welfare department in the form of marriage finance, spectacles subsidy, education scholarship.
During this event Deputy Director of Ex-Servicemen Welfare Department Lieut. Colonel R.P. Velu and ex-servicemen were also present.
