Indian-origin Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's party suffers defeat in UK parliamentary elections: Labor takes power after 14 years, Geir Starmer becomes new PM
London: Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's ruling party, who is of Indian origin, lost in the UK parliamentary elections. After 14 years, the opposition Labor Party came to power with a majority. Geir Starmer took over as Prime Minister. The Conservative Party has been in power for the past 14 years in England. Rishi Sunak of Indian origin is serving as the Prime Minister. In this situation, the British parliamentary election took place the day before yesterday.
Voting took place in a total of 650 constituencies. In this election, the Conservative Party led by Prime Minister Rishikesh, the Labor Party led by Opposition Leader Geir Starmer, and the Liberal Democratic Party clashed. This resulted in a three-way competition. About 4.6 crore people voted. The election was held by ballot. After the registration of votes was completed, the counting of votes started immediately.
326 seats are required to form the government out of total 650 seats. The opposition Labor Party won a landslide victory in yesterday's vote count. The Indian-origin Conservative Party led by Rishisunak suffered a crushing defeat. The Labor Party led by Kier Starmer won 412 seats, the Conservative Party led by Prime Minister Rishikesh 121 seats and the Liberal Democratic Party 71 seats. The Reform Party, a registered Brexit party in 2018, got 4 MPs.
The leader of the party, Nigel Barage, has been elected as an MP for the first time. Parage won the Clacton constituency by 8,000 votes more than the Conservative candidate. This defeat ended the Conservative Party's 14-year rule in England. The Labor Party has taken control of Britain. On behalf of the party, its leader Geir Starmer took office as Prime Minister. Since then the party has come to power only after 14 years. Meanwhile, due to the failure of the Conservative Party, Rishisunak resigned from the post of Prime Minister after meeting King Charles. He also announced that he would resign from the post of party president. He also immediately left the official residence where the British Prime Minister lives. Following this, preparations began for Geir Starmer to take office as the new Prime Minister. King Charles invited Geir Starmer to come and see him.
Following this, he met King Charles at Buckingham Palace as per British tradition. His wife Victoria also went to the palace with him. After that, Geir Starmer was announced as the 58th Prime Minister of England. He immediately went to the Prime Minister's official residence and assumed office. Labor Party's Angela Rayner visited the Prime Minister's House.
Prime Minister Geir Starmer made further ministerial appointments. Appointing Angela Rayner as Deputy Prime Minister, he appointed ministers to each department. Following this, everyone met him at the Prime Minister's residence. Rachel Reeves as Finance Minister, David Lammy as Foreign Minister, Yatt Cooper as Home Secretary and John Healey as Defense Minister.
Rishisunak Apologizes for Defeat Rishisunak, who has been prime minister for 20 months after the defeat of the Conservative Party, gave a thank-you speech before leaving 10 Downing Street, the prime minister's official residence in London. Then he said:
I apologize to everyone for this electoral defeat. I did this job completely. But you have sent a clear signal to the people of England that they want a change of government.

Uma Kumaran, a Tamil woman who contested on behalf of the Labor Party, won the London Stratford constituency with 19,145 votes. His rival, the Conservative Party candidate, Kane Blackwell, was relegated to 4th place with only 3,144 votes. Uma Kumaran, a Tamil woman from Eelam, has been elected as the first Tamil MP in UK history. His family moved to England after the civil war in Sri Lanka.
